In this episode, I am joined by Brian Cuban, Dallas-based attorney, author, and mental health awareness recovery advocate. Brian openly shares his lived experience overcoming alcohol, drug addiction, bulimia, and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) to advocate for recovery. He speaks regularly about his recovery, childhood bullying, fat shaming and breaking the male eating disorder stigma and writes extensively on these subjects. Brian has also spoken at conferences, non-profit events, colleges and universities across the United States and in Canada.

ABOUT BRIAN CUBAN:

Brian Cuban is an attorney, author and mental health awareness and recovery advocate. After his own battle with alcohol, cocaine, bulimia, and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Brian uses his personal experience of long term recovery to openly share his perspective as an advocate for recovery.

Brian speaks regularly about his recovery, childhood bullying, fat shaming and breaking the male eating disorder stigma at colleges, universities, conferences, non-profits, and legal events across the United States and in Canada and writes extensively on these subjects. His columns have appeared — and he has been quoted on these topics — online and in print newspapers around the world including CNN.com, Foxnews.com, The Huffington Post, The New York Times, and in online and print newspapers around the world.

Brian is the author of the best-selling book "Shattered Image: My Triumph Over Body Dysmorphic Disorder,” chronicles his first-hand experiences living with, and recovering from, twenty-seven years of eating disorders, and Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Brian’s most recent, best-selling book, The Addicted Lawyer, Tales of The Bar, Booze Blow & Redemption,” is an un-flinching look back at how addiction and other mental health issues destroyed his career as a once successful lawyer and how he and others in the profession redefined their lives in recovery and found redemption. Brian’s debut thriller novel, “The Ambulance Chaser,” is set for release December 7th 2021.

Brian is a graduate of Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife and two cats.
