Creating Trans Affirming Spaces with Allé K (he/him) Karin Lewis, MA, LMFT, CEDS


In this episode, Karin welcomes guest Allé K. (he/him), queer, fat, trans masc activist, educator and certified Yoga Instructor. He provides LGBTQIA+ inclusive, trauma-informed, fat positive yoga classes online. Yoga is a liberatory practice and shares healing practices for our collective liberation. Allé’s work is based in his experience working through his own trauma and grief; the understanding of self care as vital for the collective good. Allé is a spaceholder, a connector and a disruptor.

ABOUT ALLÉ K (HE/HIM):

Allé K (he/him) is a queer, fat, trans masc activist, educator and certified Yoga Instructor. He provides LGBTQIA+ inclusive, trauma-informed, fat positive yoga classes online. Yoga is a liberatory practice and shares healing practices for our collective liberation. Allé’s work is based in his experience working through his own trauma and grief; the understanding of self care as vital for the collective good. Allé is a spaceholder, a connector and a disruptor. 

Allé’s classes center people who are usually left out of the traditional yoga spaces like queer, trans, fat and neurodivergent folks. He’s been teaching yoga for over four years and a weekly Queer/Trans/Gender Expansive Yoga class for over 2 years. 

Allé has also educated over 350 cis-het yoga teachers on Teaching Trans Affirming Yoga through about 30 virtual trainings thus far. Allé is proud to be queer, trans, fat and visible. He advocates for self love, self-acceptance and self-care daily for our lgbtqia+ community through his Instagram @transyogateacher

Allé completed his 200-Hour Yoga Teacher in 2017 and his 500-Hour YTT in 2019 with Sri Dharma Mittra at the Dharma Yoga Center of New York City. He’s since completed trainings on Race & Equity in Yoga with Kelley Palmer, on cultural appropriation with Jesal Parikh and Tejal Patel of the Yoga is Dead Podcast and a 75-hour Skill in Action Training with Michelle Cassandra Johnson.

Lastly, Allé believes in wealth redistribution; he offers free spots in every class, with priority given to QTBIPOC and all of his events are sliding scale.
